MILWAUKEE, WI — A 78-year-old man was arrested for suspected impairment Monday afternoon after two crashes on Interstate 43 in north Milwaukee, reports TMJ4.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said officials responded to the scene between West Fond du Lac Avenue and West Capitol Drive after receiving a call about a wrong-way driver at about 2:20 p.m.
Preliminary details indicate the man was driving northbound in the southbound lanes after entering the interstate from the West Fond du Lac Avenue offramp. Authorities said his car struck two other vehicles as he continued in the wrong direction for about 3.5 miles up to West Capitol Avenue.
According to the MCSO, no major injuries were reported, but the wrong-way driver was arrested for “first-degree recklessly endangering safety, hit-and-run causing injury, and operating while intoxicated.”
