MILWAUKEE, WI — A 19-year-old man was arrested following a crash Thursday afternoon near Milwaukee’s Bradford Beach that claimed the life of a 63-year-old man, according to TMJ4.
The fatal crash happened at the intersection of Lincoln Memorial Drive and Water Tower Road, just south of the beach in the city’s Northpoint area. It was first reported at about 1:00 p.m.
Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said the teen was behind the wheel of a vehicle heading southbound on Lincoln Memorial Drive at the same time the victim was driving northbound on the same road. As the victim turned left to enter westbound Water Tower Road, his vehicle was struck by the teen’s vehicle. The impact of the crash sent the victim’s car propelling into a light pole.
Bystanders, deputy sheriff’s and first responders all tended to the victim and attempted life-saving measures, but by 1:25 p.m., he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The MCSO confirmed the 19-year-old man was taken into custody. He faces a felony charge of “negligent operation of a vehicle.”
