The Racine County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on Adams Street at the Bridge Street intersection at about 12:30 p.m.

An early investigation indications the teen, a student at Burlington High School, had ignored the emergency warning crossing signal before riding his bicycle riding across the tracks. Moments later, he was hit by a southbound Canadian National Train.

Officials confirmed the victim died from his injuries at the scene.

An investigation by the City of Burlington Police Department remains underway. The Racine County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Canadian National Police Department are assisting.
