OZAUKEE COUNTY, WI — A 77-year-old Milwaukee woman crashed a vehicle into the entrance of a Mequon hospital Monday, causing a pedestrian to be hit by debris, reports WISN.
The incident occurred at Ascension-Ozaukee Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, located off North Port Washington Road.
An early investigation shows the woman was driving up to the entrance to drop a passenger off. At one point, the driver appeared to mistake the gas pedal for the brake, causing her vehicle to veer to the right and slam into the vestibule of the hospital’s north side.
Though he was not hit by the vehicle, a 71-year-old Cedarburg man who was approaching the entrance on foot was struck by broken glass and debris. He received treatment at the hospital for a head injury.
Authorities did not confirm or specify any other notable injuries.
Local police said the department is not pursuing criminal charges following the event.
