RACINE COUNTY, WI — A 75-year-old man was cited Tuesday after crashing a vehicle into a Subway restaurant in the Town of Waterford, reports TMJ4.
The incident occurred at 818 Fox Lane, off Wisconsin State Highway 36, at about 10:45 a.m.
Officials with the Town of Waterford Police Department said the man was behind the wheel of a Yukon when it slammed through the business’ front entrance.
According to witnesses, the man then reversed the SUV out of the store and hit the curb along the other side of the parking lot. He was seen putting the SUV back into drive before the vehicle crashed into the building a second time.
A photo taken at the scene shows the SUV fully in the building.
No one was reported injured in the event, but the male driver, who was helped out of the vehicle by officers, eventually admitted to consuming alcohol before the accident. He had initially claimed that his brakes didn’t work.
After being taken to an area hospital for an evaluation and a legal blood draw, the driver received a citation for Operating While Intoxicated – First Offense and Reckless Driving.
