MILWAUKEE, WI — Two children were hurt, one critically, Monday due to a multi-vehicle crash near Morse Middle School for the Gifted and Talented in northwest Milwaukee, according to WISN.
Authorities said the wreck occurred in front of the school, near the corner of 80th Street and Kiehnau Avenue.
A driver in a Milwaukee Public Schools pickup truck that was involved in the four-vehicle accident was able to capture a reckless driver in the stolen Kia striking the school bus. The impact of the initial crash caused a chain reaction that ultimately impacted the MPS pickup and a silver Mercedes SUV.
According to Milwaukee Police, a 15-year-old, seen hanging out of the Kia’s passenger-side window in the video, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to an area hospital.
An 11-year-old boy who was on the bus at the time of the crash was transported to the hospital with several minor injuries to his leg. His mother said he is expected to fully recover.
Authorities said multiple suspects got out of the stolen Kia and fled the scene on foot before police arrived. A search for the suspects and an investigation remain ongoing.
