MILWAUKEE, WI — A 39-year-old local man has died after his car was struck by a fleeing vehicle early Tuesday in southwest Milwaukee, according to TMJ4.

The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of South Layton Boulevard and West Lincoln Avenue, near the Forest Hills Home area. Milwaukee Police said the events unfolded just after 12:16 a.m.

An early investigation indicates a 28-year-old male driver failed to stop after officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Though the suspect fled, authorities said no pursuit was initiated. Moments later, his vehicle collided with the victim’s vehicle.

First responders rushed the driver of the struck vehicle to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased. He has since been identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office as Noe Barron Garcia.

The suspect driver, who was apprehended by Milwaukee Police after trying to flee the crash scene on foot, was also taken to a nearby hospital for non-fatal injuries. At this time, he faces charges pending review fro the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
