MILWAUKEE, WI — A 28-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday after a two-vehicle crash in southwest Milwaukee that left another person critically injured, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.

The collision took place on the 2300 block of South 27th Street (South Layton Boulevard) and West Lincoln Avenue, near the Forest Hills Home area. Milwaukee Police responded to the scene shortly after 12:26 a.m.

Authorities said while at the intersection with West Forest Home Avenue, officers initially tried to conduct a traffic stop on the male driver, who refused to pull over. Though no pursuit was initiated, the suspect vehicle soon became involved in a crash with another vehicle.

The suspect, who attempted to flee the scene on foot, was apprehended by officers after a brief foot pursuit and taken to an area hospital with non-fatal injuries.

The driver of the victim vehicle, a 39-year-old man, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital where his condition remains undisclosed.

An investigation is in progress, but the suspect vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen. The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is set to review criminal charges.
