MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI — One person was arrested for OWI Saturday night after a two-vehicle crash that left one person trapped in Manitowoc, reports NBC26.
The Manitowoc Police Department said the collision occurred near South 10th Street and Madison Street. Crews and other first responders were called to the scene at around 10:00 p.m.
According to officials, one car was heading westbound through the intersection when it collided with a southbound pickup truck.
A passenger in the car was left trapped in wreckage and had to be extricated by Manitowoc Fire Department crews who used “jaws of life” tools. EMS personnel rushed both that patient and the driver of the car to Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities said the driver of the pickup was not reported hurt.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the driver of the car was taken into custody and booked into Manitowoc County Jail on a number of charges. Investigators say alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash.
