KENOSHA COUNTY, WI — A 53-year-old woman was critically injured Thursday morning when they were hit by a semi-truck while riding a bicycle in the Village of Bristol, reports CBS58.
Authorities said the accident occurred on the eastbound lanes of County Highway K at about 10:07 a.m.
An early investigation shows the semi was traveling eastbound when the victim, who was also heading eastbound on their bike, made a left turn into the vehicle’s path and was hit.
The cyclist, a resident of Grayslake, Illinois, suffered serious injuries. She was first rushed to Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital and then airlifted by Flight for Life to Froedtert Milwaukee, where she was listed in critical condition.
It was unclear whether the semi driver was hurt, but they received a citation for “operating a commercial vehicle without a license.” No other charges have been reported at this time.
