BROWN COUNTY, WI — Authorities were called to a serious injury collision Friday afternoon on Interstate 41 in southwest De Pere, according to NBC26.
The Wisconsin State Department of Transportation (WisDOT) reported the wreck on the northbound lanes at mile marker 162, at around 12:30 p.m.
It was unclear what led up to the event, but traffic footage captured at the scene shows heavy smoke emitting from the scene, which involved a semi-tractor trailer and a passenger car.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office confirmed at least one person suffered injuries considered life-threatening.
All northbound lanes were expected to be closed for over two hours as crews prepared for a major clean-up of the wreckage. Authorities had northbound traffic divert at the exit to Scheuring Road. Those passing through the area were advised to head northbound on Lawrence Drive and follow Main Avenue to re-enter I-41.
At this time, no other information has been provided, and no charges have been reported.
