SHAWANO COUNTY, WI — A 63-year-old Brown County man died Monday night after a pedestrian crash on Wisconsin State Highway 29 near Hartland, according to WBAY.
The fatal incident occurred on the eastbound lanes and prompted a response from the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and multiple other area agencies.
Details remain limited, but SCSO officials said the man appeared to have been walking on the eastbound highway when he jumped into the path of a semi tractor-trailer and was struck.
He succumbed to his injuries before first responders were able to get him to a hospital.
A section of eastbound WIS-29 was shut down for about five hours during the response and investigation. No other identifying details have been disclosed at this time as authorities work to notify family members.
The sheriff’s office said the semi driver remained at the scene and cooperated with an investigation. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors in the incident.
