MILWAUKEE, WI — Four teenagers were taken into custody Saturday evening after their vehicle collided with another car in downtown Milwaukee during a police chase, according to WISN.
The wreck occurred at the intersection of North 6th Street and West Clybourn Avenue, in the Westown neighborhood near the Marquette Interchange, shortly after 5:00 p.m.
According to Milwaukee Police, officers had responded to a ShotSpotter call and arrived in the area to find two vehicles traveling recklessly. They attempted to stop one of the vehicles, but its driver failed to stop, prompting a pursuit. The fleeing vehicle later ran a red light at the above intersection and struck an uninvolved vehicle.
The driver of the victim vehicle, a 46-year-old woman, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to an area hospital.
The occupants of the suspect vehicle, all male, included a 16-year-old, a 17-year-old, and two 18-year-olds. They attempted to flee the scene on foot but were apprehended by authorities.
The Milwaukee District Attorney’s Office is expected to review criminal charges in the next few days.
