FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI — One person died early Friday morning after a two-vehicle crash that left another person injured on Interstate 41 near southwest Van Dyne, reports FOX11 News.
The fatal accident occurred on the southbound lanes on the I-41 overpass at County Road N. It was first reported by the Wisconsin State Patrol shortly before 4:15 a.m.
According to officials, the semi was heading southbound when it jackknifed. Moments later, it was struck by an SUV that became lodged underneath.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased on the scene. Their passenger, who was in the front-seat, was rushed to an area hospital in unknown condition.
No injuries to the semi were reported.
A span of the interstate was shut down for about five hours during the emergency response.
No further information has been shared, but weather reports at the time of the wreck indicates heavy snow with the onset of Winter Storm Everett.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is handling the investigation.
