WAUSHARA COUNTY, WI — A tanker truck overturned late Thursday afternoon, causing a hazmat spill on Interstate 39 near Plainfield, according to We Are Green Bay.
The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the scene on the northbound lanes at Exit 136 to Wisconsin State Highway 73. We Are Green Bay first reported on the incident at 4:00 p.m.
Officials have not disclosed the cause of the rollover, but slippery road conditions are believed to have been a factor. Hazardous and flammable materials from the tanker spilled onto the roadway, creating traffic delays. No injuries to the driver or anyone else have been reported.
The northbound interstate was expected to remain blocked for an extended time as crews worked to clear the scene and before the area could be deemed safe for travel.
An investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol was underway.
