WASHINGTON COUNTY, WI — A man died Wednesday evening after a collision on County Highway Z in the Town of Erin, according to FOX 6 Milwaukee.
The crash took place at the intersection with Donegal Road at about 5:30 p.m. Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene shortly after.
A preliminary investigation indicates the man was driving a vehicle heading northbound on County Highway K when he failed to yield to the right-of-way of oncoming traffic. As he proceeded to turn west onto Donegal Road, his vehicle was hit by a southbound vehicle.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, who suffered undisclosed injuries, was said to have been “conscious and alert” when he was rushed to Froedtert Menomonee Falls. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, however, he succumbed to his injuries.
Medics evaluated the driver and two other occupants of the southbound vehicle at the scene before they were released.
The WCSO has since determined that the decedent was not wearing a seat belt during the accident. Other contributing factors in the fatal crash have been identified as failure to yield and heavy fog.
