MILWAUKEE, WI — A 61-year-old woman was hospitalized Wednesday after being hit by a car in the Lincoln Village area of Milwaukee’s south side, reports WISN.

Milwaukee Police said the incident occurred at the corner of South 16th Street and West Lincoln Avenue.

Surveillance footage captured in the area shows the female pedestrian crossing the street while the “Walk” sign was illuminated. Moments later, she is hit by a car making a left turn onto Lincoln Avenue. That car then continues driving away from the scene.

First responders rushed the victim to an area hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening. Officials said she is expected to survive.

At this time, the driver has not been identified, but Milwaukee Police continue to investigate. The suspect vehicle is described as a “dark-colored Acura with blacked-out wheels.”

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the MPD at (414) 935-7222. Those wishing to remain anonymous can reach Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS.
