OCONTO COUNTY, WI — An 8-year-old girl died early Thursday morning after a pickup truck crashed into a ditch along U.S. Highway 41 and 141 in southeast Abrams, reports NBC26.
The fatal accident occurred near the offramp from US-41/141 northbound to Sampson Road at around 1:05 a.m.
According to the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, a 34-year-old Suring man was driving a pickup truck northbound when he took the exit ramp. The driver then appeared to have run past a stop sign before the pickup traveled into a ditch.
Authorities confirmed the young girl, a passenger in the vehicle, died from her injuries at the scene.
The driver and another child passenger, an 11-year-old girl, were transported to Green Bay Area Hospital, where the juvenile was treated for minor injuries.
No additional information has been released at this time, but an investigation by the OCSO and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office was underway.
