BROWN COUNTY, WI — A Lamers school bus was occupied by students when it was involved in a Bellevue collision early last Thursday, February 15, that left the driver injured, reports NBC26.

The incident was reported on a stretch of Klondike Road at the Interstate 43 overpass.

An early investigation by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office indicates that the school bus was traveling over the snow-covered roadway when its driver lost control. The bus then traveled off the roadway and collided with the bridge’s concrete base.

Green Bay firefighters had to extricate the bus driver, who was left trapped in the wreckage because the driver’s compartment fell onto her legs. After her safe removal, the driver was transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.

Of the six students aboard the bus at the time, one was evaluated by first responders, but no other hospitalizations have been confirmed.

Crews had part of Klondike Road closed for nearly an hour.

It’s unclear at this time whether any citations are anticipated.
