MILWAUKEE, WI — An 11-year-old child died Saturday afternoon after a single-vehicle accident in northwest Milwaukee that left a 4-year-old seriously injured, reports TMJ4.
Milwaukee Police said the crash occurred near North 76th Street (Wisconsin 181) and West Bobolink Avenue, in the Silver Spring neighborhood. Officers were called to the scene some time after 4:00 p.m.
A preliminary investigation found that a 30-year-old woman had two unrestrained juvenile passengers, ages 11 and 4, traveling with her when she lost control of her vehicle. After driving nearly 300 feet over the lots of two nearby businesses, the car crashed into a tree.
The 11-year-old child was killed in the impact, confirmed officials. The 4-year-old child, who suffered serious injuries, was rushed to an area hospital where they were listed in stable condition.
Responding officers took the driver into custody. Charges are expected to be reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
The driver told one witness at the scene that she has epilepsy, for which she takes medication, and that she had blacked out during a seizure, but the MPD has not reported about any factors in the crash at this time.
