MILWAUKEE, WI — Authorities are searching for the driver responsible for a crash Saturday, September 2, in Milwaukee’s Lower East Side that left a pedestrian injured, reports WISN.
Milwaukee Police Department officials said the incident occurred in the area of East Brady Street and North Warren Avenue, at about 9:00 p.m.
An early investigation found that the 30-year-old victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was traveling on foot across the street in a marked crosswalk. Surveillance footage recovered from the area shows the suspect vehicle, possibly a gray Jeep Cherokee, striking the pedestrian as it abruptly turned left onto North Warren Avenue. The driver then fled the scene before authorities arrived, leaving the victim injured in the middle of the roadway.
Authorities said the victim has since been released from the hospital, but is recovering from several broken bones.
The MPD continues to investigate and search for the hit-and-run suspect. No further details have been shared.
