MARINETTE COUNTY, WI — A 48-year-old man died early Saturday after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bike near the Wisconsin-Michigan state border in Marinette, according to We Are Green Bay.
Marinette Police Department officials said the incident took place on the Interstate Bridge at about 2:20 a.m. At least eight different area agencies, including the MPD, the Marinette Fire Department, and Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area EMS personnel, responded to the area.
The circumstances leading up to the event remain unclear, but officers arrived to find the cyclist unresponsive following a crash with a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.
Despite life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
