DOOR COUNTY, WI — A 54-year-old man from Franklin died Tuesday evening after being ejected from his moped during a crash on Wisconsin State Highway 42 in the town of Liberty Grove, reports NBC26.
The fatal wreck occurred on the southbound lanes of WIS-42, north of Seaquist Road, at around 7:21 p.m.
According to the Door County Sheriff’s Office, the man was operating a 2021 Taizhou Zhongneng Wolf RX-50 moped southbound when, for reasons still unclear, he lost control, causing the moped to enter the west ditch.
The rider, who ejected from vehicle and hit a culvert pipe, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was rushed by medical helicopter to a Green Bay hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. As officials are working to notify his family, no other identifying details have been released.
An investigation into the collision remains underway.
