MILWAUKEE, WI — Three people were injured Tuesday night after a driver ran a red light during a police pursuit and caused a multi-vehicle crash in northwest Milwaukee, according to TMJ4.
The collision occurred at North 35th Street and West Lisbon Avenue, in the city’s Walnut Hill neighborhood, shortly after 9:40 p.m.
Milwaukee Police said officers had tried to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle with no license plates near 26th and Vine. A pursuit was prompted when the driver refused to stop. At one point, the fleeing vehicle failed to stop at a red light, resulting in a crash with another car. The impact of that crash sent the suspect vehicle into a third vehicle.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle, a 21-year-old man, was placed under custody and taken to an area hospital. His passenger, a 19-year-old woman, was also transported. No information on their conditions has been shared.
First responders also took an occupant from the second vehicle, a 37-year-old man, to the hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office will be reviewing criminal charges.
