RACINE COUNTY, WI — Authorities are searching for a driver whose vehicle hit and seriously injured a We Energies contractor Tuesday morning in the Town of Burlington, reports TMJ4.

The incident occurred in the area of Honey Lake Road and Spring Prairie Road.

According to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, a woman was working as a We Energies flagger on the southbound side of Honey Lake Road when she was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle then continued northbound without stopping.

The victim, who suffered “significant injuries,” was airlifted via medical helicopter to an area hospital. No updates on their condition has been released at this time.

Authorities describe the hit-and-run vehicle as a white four-door, possibly late-2000s model, diesel Chevrolet with black rims and tinted windows. It was seen leaking fluid as it fled the scene, and broken vehicle parts consistent with black molding were discovered at the crash site.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Racine County Sheriff’ Office at (262) 886-2300, using reference complaint #23-15343.
