MILWAUKEE, WI — A 50-year-old woman has died two weeks after being hit by a car on Thursday, December 22, in northwest Milwaukee, according to TMJ4.

The fatal incident occurred near North Sherman Boulevard and West Fond du Lac Avenue, in the Roosevelt Grove area, at about 5:14 a.m.

Surveillance footage of the event shows the woman exiting a city bus and then starting to cross Sherman Boulevard, even while the pedestrian signal is still illuminated red. The woman is seen dodging passing vehicles before she is hit by a vehicle near the median. The vehicle, which fled the scene, was later located, and the driver turned herself in the following day.

The victim was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition and later underwent several surgeries. After suffering a number of infections and spiking a fever this past Saturday, doctors advised the family of her survival odds, and a decision was made to take the victim off of life support.
