MILWAUKEE, WI — A woman died Friday morning after a crash that left another person injured on Interstate 894 in southwest Milwaukee, according to TMJ4.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said that fatal collision occurred on the northbound lanes near West National Avenue.
Officials said the drivers of two vehicles had pulled over to the side of the interstate after being involved in a crash. Shortly after, a third driver pulled over and got out of his vehicle to check on the two other drivers. One of the those drivers had also exited her car at the time a fourth vehicle approached. Moments later, that vehicle struck both people.
The female driver who had involved in the first crash died as a result of her injuries, confirmed the sheriff’s office.
The driver of the third car, an off-duty Mequon firefighter, was transported to a local hospital. No updates on his condition have been released.
All northbound lanes were shut down in the area during the emergency response.
An investigation into both collisions remains ongoing, but authorities said the driver of the fourth vehicle was taken into custody for “Operating While Suspended – Causing Death.”
