MILWAUKEE, WI — A 19-year-old Illinois resident died early Tuesday after a high-speed crash in Milwaukee’s Polonia neighborhood, according to TMJ4.
Milwaukee Police said the fatal collision occurred near South 13th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue at about 12:32 a.m.
A preliminary investigation shows the teen was behind the wheel of a 2007 Chevy Suburban traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on Oklahoma Avenue when he failed to stop at a stop light. Moments later, the Suburban collided with a 2016 Nissan Altima traveling northbound on 13th Street.
First responders rushed the driver of the Suburban to an area hospital. He was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Nissan, who suffered minor injuries, was also transported to a hospital. Authorities said two passengers in the Nissan were not reported hurt.
No further information has been shared at this time. The MPD continues to investigate.
