DODGE COUNTY, WI — A 21-year-old Fond Du Lac man died early last Thursday after a single-vehicle wreck on County Road C near Trenton, reports NBC26.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said the collision occurred near U.S. Highway 151 at around 1:20 a.m.
According to officials, a Dodge County deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop on a speeding car, but its driver had sped away before the deputy was able to make a U-turn and pursue the vehicle. The deputy said he found the car wrecked against a tree only moments later.
Sheriff’s office deputies worked to manually extract the driver from the wreckage and initiated life-saving measures, but the driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
No further information has been made available at this time. An investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol was underway.
