WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — Two people were taken into custody last Friday morning after a police chase led to a wreck on Interstate 43 in New Berlin, reports TMJ4.
The crash happened on the exit ramp from I-43 northbound to South Moorland Road in the early hours of November 11.
Officials with the New Berlin Police Department said the events first unfolded near West Small Road and College Avenue, and the pursuit continued onto I-43 northbound from Racine Avenue.
At one point, the fleeing vehicle crashed and caught fire on the Moorland Avenue offramp. Though the two suspects fled the scene on foot, they were later apprehended.
New Berlin Fire Department crews were called to the site to put out the flames, and both suspects were booked into Waukesha County Jail.
An investigation remains ongoing, but alcohol is a suspected factor in the wreck.
