DANE COUNTY, WI — A 77-year-old Greendale man who was reported missing died early Thursday after a single-vehicle wreck off Interstate 94 near Marshall, according to Channel3000.
The fatal collision occurred in a wooded area off the interstate near mile marker 253. Wisconsin State Patrol troopers initially responded to the scene after a call from Greendale Police Department officials, who said the man’s cell phone had last pinged there.
After a search, troopers located the victim in his vehicle, in a “significant distance” away from the roadway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
An early investigation shows the male driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and that alcohol was not a factor.
The WSP continues to investigate the cause of the wreck.
