MILWAUKEE, WI — A 40-year-old man died Wednesday morning after a two-vehicle wreck in downtown Milwaukee’s Westown neighborhood, reports TMJ4.
Milwaukee Police said the fatal collision occurred at the intersection of North 10th Street and West Wells Street (U.S. Highway 18) at around 9:00 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was driving northbound on 10th Street during a green light. A reckless driver was traveling at a high rate of speed on Wells Street when they ran a red light at the intersection and struck the victim’s vehicle. The impact of the crash sent both vehicles east, where they collided with four vacant parked vehicles.
First responders rushed the 40-year-old man to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
It was unclear whether the causing driver, a 22-year-old man, was injured, but he was taken into custody.
An investigation was underway, but Milwaukee Police have determined reckless driving to be a factor in the crash.
