WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — A 29-year-old woman died Monday evening after being hit by a driver moments after another crash on Interstate 94 near Pewaukee, according to TMJ4.
The fatal incident occurred on the eastbound lanes at Wisconsin Highway 164, shortly before 8:00 p.m.
Investigators said the woman was initially behind the wheel of a vehicle that had gone down an embankment along the highway. After getting out of the vehicle, she tried to cross the roadway and was struck by another vehicle driven by a 25-year-old woman.
The female pedestrian died as a result of her injuries, confirmed officials.
All eastbound lanes of I-94 were shut down in the aftermath of the accident, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.
