MILWAUKEE, WI — A 23-year-old woman died Wednesday morning after being struck during a two-vehicle crash caused by an erratic driver in Milwaukee’s north side, reports WISN.

The fatal incident occurred in the 4400 block of North Teutonia Avenue at West Ruby Avenue, shortly before 6:00 a.m.

A witness told authorities the young woman was crossing the intersection when a car came swerving out of control and screeching across the lanes of the road until it hit another car. The impact of the crash caused the second car to strike the pedestrian as she crossed the road, knocking her down to the pavement.

The reckless driver fled the scene while the second driver remained behind.

The witness, who is trained in CPR, attempted to assist the woman, who appeared to suffer grave injuries. Shortly after, the victim was pronounced deceased by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Milwaukee Police arrested the second driver, a 23-year-old man, for “driving without a license causing death.”

At this time, authorities have not identified or located the reckless driver, but an investigation remains ongoing.
