WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — A man was hospitalized Sunday night after being struck by a motorcycle while riding a moped in the Village of Summit, reports FOX6 Milwaukee.

The incident occurred at the corner of Delafield Road and North Stonehedge Trail, following the Wisconsin Harley-Davidson Hometown Rally on September 4.

An early investigation indicates the man, who is disabled, was riding a moped when he stopped at a red light less than a half mile from Wisconsin Harley-Davidson. While stopped, he was knocked to the ground by a motorcycle operator who fled the scene without stopping.

The victim suffered a shattered ankle and was transported to a local hospital. His recovery is projected to take a minimum of a year.

No information has been released regarding the suspect operator, but Village of Summit police said orange motorcycle parts were left at the scene.

An investigation and search for the suspect remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Summit police.
