MARINETTE COUNTY, WI — A man died Wednesday afternoon after a single-vehicle wreck that injured at least two others on 3rd Road near the town of Beaver, according to WBAY.
The fatal accident happened between Wisconsin Highway 64 and County Highway P shortly before 4:00 p.m.
An early investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound when, for reasons still unknown, it went off the roadway and struck a ditch on the road’s east side. The vehicle then collided with a power pole before coming to a stop in a cornfield.
Responding deputies arrived to find one male occupant who appeared to have been ejected in the wreck. The victim, believed to be 53, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two other occupants were reported injured, but no further information on their conditions has been released.
Officials said a fourth occupant in the vehicle fled the scene on foot. He has not been located as of this writing.
An investigation remains ongoing.
