MARATHON COUNTY, WI — One person died Saturday night after a vehicle hit a driveway embankment on Marathon County Highway C in Green Valley, reports Wausau Daily Herald.
The fatal accident happened on the southbound side, a few miles west of County Highway S, at around 9:15 p.m.
It remains unclear at this time what led up to the wreck, but the Marathon County Sheriff’s deputies said a vehicle overturned after striking the embankment.
First responders arrived to find the victim deceased at the scene.
Wausau Daily Herald describes the crash site as a “darkened stretch” of the highway, but officials have not yet said whether dim street lighting was a factor in the crash.
No further details have been released at this time, but an investigation remains ongoing.
