MILWAUKEE, WI — A 58-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday morning after being struck by a driver outside of St. Augustine Preparatory Academy in Milwaukee’s south side, reports WISN.
The incident occurred while the man was working as a crossing guard on a two-lane road in front of the school, during the morning drop-off between 7:00 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.
Milwaukee Police have not released details regarding the circumstances behind the crash, but a witness said the man was hit even after a car tried to stop.
The victim was transported to a local hospital. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officers.
At this time, no pending charges have been reported.
Nearby residents and concerned parents noted to WISN of an insufficient amount of warning signs and flashing lights in the area.
An investigation was underway.
