News: 1 killed, 1 injured in box truck crash on CTH-J near Burlington

RACINE COUNTY, WI — A 41-year-old woman died Tuesday afternoon after her car was struck by a box truck on County Highway J near northeast Burlington, reports TMJ4.

Deputies with the Racine County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at the intersection with County Highway A/Plank Road at about 3:48 p.m.

An early investigation indicates a 50-year-old Chicago man was driving a 22-foot box truck southbound on CTH-J when he ran a stop sign. Moments later, a Chevrolet sedan, driven by the victim, collided with the truck.

At least one of the vehicles rolled over as a result. The Chevrolet was found with severe front-end damage and and truck was moderately damaged and discovered in the ditch line.

The woman, a resident of Burlington, suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.

Medics transported the truck driver to a local hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening.

At this time, no pending charges or citations have been reported.

An investigation by the Racine County Sheriff’s Office was in progress.
