RACINE COUNTY, WI — A 22-year-old Kenosha man has been charged after fleeing a multi-vehicle wreck Thursday, June 30, that hurt two others on Interstate 94 near Franksville, reports FOX6 Milwaukee.
The collision occurred on the southbound interstate just south of County Highway K at about 2:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a Ford Focus was heading southbound in lane 2 when it was hit from the back by a Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed. The impact of the crash sent the Ford Focus off the roadway and into a ditch, where it overturned onto its passenger side.
Officials said after the Honda Accord came to rest in the roadway, blocking the center lanes, its driver fled the scene. Shortly after, a driver in a U-Haul truck heading southbound approached and tried to avoid the Honda, but ended up hitting the car.
The drivers of the U-Haul and the Ford Focus both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital.
Shortly after the crash, deputies were able to locate and apprehend the driver of the Honda, who displayed signs of intoxication.
After a legal blood draw was conducted, the suspect was booked into the Racine County Jail. He was later charged with 7 counts.
