APPLETON, WI — Multiple people were evaluated for injuries Tuesday night after two sets of multi-vehicle crashes on Interstate 41 in Appleton, reports The Post-Crescent.
The events first unfolded on the northbound lanes near North Richmond Street, at about 6:20 p.m.
Appleton Police said three vehicles were initially involved in a crash. As officers worked to secure the scene, multiple other vehicles became involved in another collision just south of the first site.
Authorities said multiple victims “received medical attention” at the scene, but as of this writing, no further details have been disclosed regarding their condition. It was unclear whether anyone was transported to a hospital.
All northbound lanes of I-41 were shut down in the area for more than seven hours as emergency crews responded. By 2:00 a.m. the next morning, all lanes were reopened to traffic.
An investigation remains underway.
