MILWAUKEE, WI — One person was arrested Friday morning after striking a light pole during a police chase in Milwaukee’s Williamsburg Heights neighborhood, reports FOX6 Milwaukee.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Keefe Avenue and North Doctor M.L.K. Jr Dr, shortly after 4:33 a.m.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the events first unfolded near 27th and Lisbon, where officers spotted a suspect wanted for “battery and recklessly endangering safety.”
The suspect then fled the area and was located a short time later. When officers tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver sped away, prompting a pursuit.
Authorities said the suspect later crashed their vehicle into a light pole and attempted to flee the site on foot. After another short pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
