WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI — A driver was hospitalized with critical injuries Wednesday morning after a two-vehicle accident near South Asylum Bay in northeast Oshkosh, according to The Northwestern.
The accident occurred on Bowen Street, between Leeward Court and Nicolet Avenue, at about 8:35 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle was heading southbound on the road when it veered past the center line and entered the northbound lane. Moments later, it struck an oncoming car. The causing vehicle then traveled off the roadway and collided with a tree.
Oshkosh Police said both drivers were taken to area hospitals. The southbound driver suffered life-threatening injuries while the northbound driver sustained minor injuries.
A section of Bowen Road was shut down during the emergency response and investigation but was later reopened at around 2:00 p.m.
