WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — A driver was taken into custody Sunday night after fleeing a traffic stop and sideswiping another vehicle in west Waukesha, according to FOX6 Milwaukee.
Police said the events first unfolded on Delafield Street at about 8:35 p.m., but the pursuit of the suspect led an officer through St. Paul, Washing, Motor, Dopp, and Joellen.
An early investigation indicates the officer had tried to pull a vehicle over after seeing it weave in and out of traffic at high speed. The fleeing driver ended up sideswiping another car before hitting a tree, causing the vehicle to burst into flames.
No details have been released concerning any injuries, but authorities said the suspect has since been charged with “OWI 2nd, causing injury, recklessly endangering safety, fleeing/eluding,” and was also issued multiple traffic citations.
