KENOSHA COUNTY, WI — A 20-year-old Pleasant Prairie man has been formally charged following a crash Friday, July 28, that killed two people and critically hurt two others in southwest Kenosha, reports TMJ4.

The fatal wreck occurred at Play It Again Sports, located at 4017 75th Street, at around 3:30 a.m.

A criminal complaint says the young man, Ajay Gregory Pierangeli, was intoxicated while behind the wheel of a red pickup truck carrying four other people. At one point, he lost control of the vehicle, which then collided with the building.

First responders arrived at the scene to find four of the vehicle’s occupants unconscious and the fifth person conscious and breathing.

Two victims, 22-year-old Dylan Zamora and 21-year-old Jenna Barrette, were later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The two surviving victims, two men ages 21 and 20, remain in critical condition.

One of the surviving victims told authorities the group had been drinking at a local “hangout” spot that evening, and that no one was wearing seat belts. An ambulance driver who happened to encounter the pickup truck on the road recalled that the driver appeared disoriented and was driving recklessly.

On August 15, an arrest warrant was issued for Pierangeli, who was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of .282. He has been charged with “two counts of Homicide by Intoxicated Use of Vehicle,” as well as “Injury by Intoxicated Use/Vehicle and OWI Cause Injury 2+.” If convicted, he may face over 60 years of prison time and fines totaling thousands of dollars.
