MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — A 14-year-old girl died early Sunday after a rollover crash involving a suspected intoxicated driver in Cudahy, according to TMJ4.
The fatal collision occurred on the southbound lanes of I-794 at Pennsylvania Avenue at around 2:00 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates that officers with the St.Francis Police Department had clocked a Chevrolet sedan traveling southbound at over 110 miles per hour. At around 2:07 a.m., the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the intersection for a rollover crash that occurred at a curve in the roadway.
First responders arrived on the scene to discover that the vehicle had flipped and come to rest down the embankment. A 14-year-old girl who was in the rear-seat passenger seat was ejected from the car and was left trapped and unconscious under the car. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 17-year-old girl, attempted CPR, and multiple good Samaritans stopped to help pull the victim out from under the vehicle before officials arrived.
Despite continued life-saving efforts from Cudahy Fire Department units, the victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Two other occupants were taken to a local hospital for “possible minor injuries.” After further investigation, the teen driver was arrested for “Operating While Intoxicated/Drugs,” with additional charges pending.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
