MILWAUKEE, WI — An 80-year-old West Allis man was critically injured Thursday morning when a wheel flew off a van and struck him in west Milwaukee, reports TMJ4.
The incident occurred while the male pedestrian was on 84th Street at the Interstate 94 overpass, near Pettit National Ice Center.
According to authorities, the wheel came loose off a van and collided with the victim, who suffered life-threatening injuries.
Medics rushed the patient to an area hospital, where his condition remains undisclosed.
No one else was reported hurt.
Officials closed 84th Street in both directions at the bridge during the emergency response and initial investigation.
It remains unclear whether the driver of the van stayed at the scene. At this time, no pending charges or citations have been reported.
