MILWAUKEE, WI — First responders rushed an 18-year-old woman to the hospital last Friday, February 2, following a pedestrian crash on West Silver Spring Drive in northwest Milwaukee, reports TMJ4.
The incident took place at the intersection with North Crestwood Boulevard, shortly after 10:00 p.m.
According to the victim’s family, the young woman, who is deaf and has schizophrenia, suffered an episode prior to going missing. Preliminary details indicate the teen was trying to help a stray dog in the roadway when she was struck by a car.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. Her family said she faces months of recovery.
The driver, who remained at the scene after the crash, cooperated with an investigation, which remains underway. No charges have been reported at this time.
