MILWAUKEE, WI — A 32-year-old woman and her infant have lost their lives following a crash late Sunday afternoon in northwest Milwaukee that injured multiple others, including two children, reports TMJ4.
The fatal collision took place near North Servite Drive and West Brown Deer Road (Wisconsin State Highway 100/U.S. Route 45) at about 4:26 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates an 18-year-old was driving a white Chevy Equinox eastbound on Brown Deer Road at a high rate of speed. At one point, the Chevy collided with a blue Dodge Caravan, which was turning onto northbound Servite Drive.
All four people inside the Caravan–a pregnant 32-year-old woman, two children aged 8, and the 62-year-old driver–were all rushed to an area hospital, where the woman succumbed to her injuries. While early reports indicated that her infant was saved, the Milwaukee Police Department later confirmed that the child was also pronounced deceased.
The teen driver and sole occupant of the Chevy Equinox has since been arrested. The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is expected to review charges.
