OCONTO COUNTY, WI — A 40-year-old man died Tuesday night after a car collided head-on with his motorcycle on Wisconsin State Highway 22 in Gillett, according to We Are Green Bay.
The fatal wreck took place on a stretch of WIS-22 at County Road P (North Flat Rock Lane). Deputies with the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at around 9:20 p.m.
A preliminary investigation shows that an 18-year-old man, of Krakow, was driving a car northbound on WIS-22 when he allegedly tried to pass a semi-truck by using the oncoming lane. Moments later, his car collided head-on with a motorcycle operated by the victim.
The victim, a resident of Bonduel, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.
First responders transported the teen driver to an area hospital for unspecified injuries.
No other injuries were reported following the event, but authorities noted minor damage to the semi.
The OCSO, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office are conducting a joint investigation. No information regarding pending charges has been reported at this time.
